The Quinta
Quinta do Griffo is nestled on the western slopes of the Sintra forest, between historic Sintra and the Atlantic Ocean (both easily accessible within minutes), The Quinta is centuries old, but its interior has been restored in a clear, modern style, using traditional Portuguese materials and keeping certain ancient stylistic elements. White-washed under a roof of roman tiles, the house is built in the centre of Eugaria, a tiny village typical of the Lisbon area, over a succession of stone walls which ensure complete privacy while dominating its environment.
Exterior
The house is built inthe friendly, simple style traditional to the Lisbon region; The garden, kept in an exuberant style, stretches over several terraces, each with a distinctive vegetation including rare trees and plants. A couple of lounge areas beckon you for a rest in the shade or a sunbath by the 6*11m pool. Garden and house form a coherent dialogue between nature and architecture.
Interior
The house is built on several levels each communicating with one of the courtyards, a terrace or the garden. Its many windows offer fabulous views of the surrounding forests, vineyards and the Atlantic Ocean, and they flood the house with light. On the upper floor, the high-ceilinged living room with direct access to the garden is the ideal place to spend the evening with friends and family. The house’s fully equipped kitchen has a vast adjoining dining space, and a shaded outdoor dining area. The four bedrooms are all kept in the same modern style, three of them with a king or queen size bed and in-built wardrobes. The fourth room with two individual beds, plus a funny bunk bed, is tailored for children although the beds' dimensions fit adults too. The master bedroom has its own private bathroom, the other rooms share a large bathroom with a bathtub and there is a social bathroom too.
